Happy Law Day from The Maddox Law Firm!

On Behalf of | May 1, 2013 | Virginia Law

May 1, 2013 is Law Day, but it is not celebrated by the common folk. “We the People,” started this Nation with our Constitution a few years back. Then President Eisenhower declared May 1st should be observed as Law Day. It was originally the idea of one Charles S. Rhyne, acting president of the ABA from 1957-1958. 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation written by President Lincoln, where part-free/part-slave men were given equal rights. That Proclamation paved the way for Reverend Dr. King some 50 years later to lead the Civil Rights Movement and give the profound famous speech, “I Have a Dream.” Rev. Dr. King wrote in a letter from a Birmingham jail, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”  Please find below the link to President Obama’s Presidential Proclamation regarding Law Day 2013.
