Kimberly Waletich is a contract attorney with Maddox & Gerock in Falls Church, Virginia, and has been working with the firm since October 2016. Kim was licensed in 2006 and has represented clients in equitable distribution, spousal support, child support, custody, visitation and relocation matters.

Kim understands that the divorce of a family is often one of the most traumatic events someone will have to endure. She sees her role as not just an attorney, but also as a counselor at law. She strives to help her clients through the divorce process quickly and respectfully while preserving what is good in their family relationship. Kim also draws on her business experience to help clients assess costs and benefits with various strategies through the process.

Kim began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable William T. Newman, Jr., the Honorable Benjamin N.A. Kendrick, the Honorable Joanne F. Alper, and the Honorable James F. Almand of the Arlington County Circuit Court, 17th Judicial Circuit of Virginia. Kim then joined the family law firm of Condo, Roop, Kelly & Byrnes, P.C., where she was an associate attorney. When David Roop decided to form The Roop Law Firm, PLLC, Kim joined him as the firm’s founding associate attorney. Kim left that firm in 2012 and spent four years raising her son.

Kim earned her law degree, cum laude, in 2006 from American University’s Washington College of Law where she was editor-in-chief of the Business Law Brief and a member of the Administrative Law Review, the American Bar Association’s publication on administrative law. Kim served as a student attorney in the Civil Practice Clinical Program, where she received the highest-grade award for her fieldwork. In 2005, Kim served as a legal intern with the Virginia Supreme Court’s Office of the Chief Staff Attorney. Kim also studied Comparative International Law with the law school’s London-Paris-Geneva program.

Prior to law school, Kim worked for The Washington Post and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive as an advertising account executive from 1999 until 2003, where she earned the President’s Club Award in 2001 and 2002 as one of the top 15 account executives in the company.

Kim graduated from James Madison University in 1999, where she earned a B.A., cum laude, in international affairs with a minor in political science.

Kim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Although she grew up a Cornhusker, she’s replaced college football with Washington Nationals baseball. She lives in Arlington with her husband (Alex), son (Wylie) and their 18-year-old cat (Gordon, a.k.a. G. Gordon Kitty).
