Lily Saffer joined the Firm as an associate attorney in August 2020. Prior to joining Maddox & Gerock, Lily worked for nearly five years as an associate with Surovell Isaacs & Levy PLC, building extensive experience as a family law attorney, as well as representing numerous clients in civil matters such as contract disputes, landlord tenant cases, and consumer protection suits. This additional experience has broadened Lily's familiarity with all areas of the law, many of which impact family law cases.

Lily grew up in Seattle, Washington and graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts cum laude in 2010. Lily then went on to the William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law as a Graduate Research Fellow. Throughout her time at William & Mary, Lily worked extensively with the Children's Advocacy Law Society, served as a research assistant to family law professor James Dwyer, and spent both her summers interning with Legal Aid organizations. After graduating from William & Mary in 2013, Lily served for two years as the law clerk to the Hon. Dennis J. Smith, who was then Chief Judge of the Fairfax County Circuit Court, then to the Hon. Penney S. Azcarate in the same Court after Chief Judge Smith's retirement. Lily entered the active practice of law in September 2015.

Throughout her career, Lily has litigated cases in Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Courts; General District Courts; Circuit Courts; and the Virginia Court of Appeals. Lily is involved in several professional and community service organizations, including serving on the Board of the Rotary Club of Fairfax and on the Executive Committee of the Fairfax Law Foundation (of which Lily is president for the 2023-2024 year). In 2022 Lily received the Pro Bono Champion Award from the Fairfax Bar Association; in 2023 Lily received the Service Above Self award from the Rotary Club of Fairfax. Lily has been selected as a Virginia Lawyers Rising Star in Family Law by Super Lawyers every year since 2019.

Lily has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including divorce, equitable distribution, child custody and visitation, child support establishment and modification, spousal support establishment and modification, and drafting of prenuptial, postnuptial, and separation agreements.

Lily can also assist with estate planning, an important step for anyone entering into or ending a marriage or welcoming a new child to the family. Lily provides simple estate planning services for Virginia residents, including Last Will and Testament, Advance Medical Directive, Durable Power of Attorney, and simple Trusts.
